Chemical Remediation:

Chemical remediation involves the use of chemicals or chemical processes to treat soil contamination. Techniques like oxidation and reduction reactions are employed to change the chemical composition of pollutants, rendering them less toxic or immobile. Common chemical remediation methods include soil flushing, soil vapor extraction, and chemical oxidation. These methods are suitable for a wide range of contaminants, including heavy metals, solvents, and persistent organic pollutants.

Physical Remediation:

Physical remediation techniques focus on physically removing or isolating contaminated soil from the surrounding environment. Excavation and removal of contaminated soil is a common approach in physical remediation, particularly for localized contamination. Soil capping is another method that involves covering the contaminated soil with a barrier to prevent further contamination. Physical remediation is often employed for soil contaminated with hazardous materials, such as asbestos or radioactive substances.
